There was one thing that nobody told me when I started out in llamas. They are highly addictive! I started with three females, one with a very plain little boy at foot. Very quickly my herd grew to 20, and I had to move to a bigger farm. I am now the caretaker of one of the largest and most diverse herds in New Zealand.  Just in case you were wondering what happened to that very plain little boy - he went on to win Champion male llama at the Malvern A&P show, and is now minding a herd of his own (Woody - pictured below).

There are often new faces in our herd. Recent additions to our breeding program are Maggie and Masquerade, aged two and five, heavy woolled chocolate brown and white Sisters, and Daisy, a medium woolled yearlng female who has come to join her Sisters Maisie and Squirrel (pictured on our home page with Ben, and Gizmo). Last years additions were Caspita, a huge appaloosa girl, and Evita, a heavy woolled female with outstanding breeding - Evita is Mother to our stunning 2 year old maiden female Condalisa (Top adult female, 2008 Canterbury Royal Show), and the equally amazing yearling male, Cuba (Top Junior Suri Male, 2008 Canterbury Royal Show). Watch this space for updates on our herd.
