Of course New Zealand has always had the suri gene in llamas, as we were reminded with the arrival of our young herdsire prospect Conquistador just before we flew out to America. This young man was always going to be very special, at 18kg he was a whopper! And when it came to a
pet name for him there was really only one choice - Bam Bam (and of course the female baby born the follwing day had to be called Pebbles:-)!)
We were extremely pleased in the performance that this young male gave at his first Malvern A&P show, when he placed 2nd in the junior male class, and then went on to beat 3 American imported suris in the Supreme Suri section, where he was awarded the Reserve
Champion suri ribbon.
Bam Bam continues to go from strength to strength, and will this year join the Watford Grange stable of herdsires, joining our black suri American import The Fresh Prince of Belair (below). We expect great things of these boys, as they both have outstanding
temperament and conformation.

Pictured above is The Fresh Prince of Belair. This boy is a pure black (blue-black) with white socks and tuxedo markings. Pictured here shortly after his arrival in Christchurch. Our poor American imports were shorn naked before their departure from the States,
and he has about 7 months growth in the picture above. Top conformation and amazing temperament, everything we look for in a male and guaranteed to enhance our breeding programme over the next few years.
We are also expecting great things from our colourful appaloosa The American Gigolo. Jiggy has very strong suri genetics, and we cannot wait to see what he produces when we put him over some of our New Zealand females who also carry the suri gene. Top
temperament, conformation, colour and fibre should all be guaranteed. We have 10 babies from this gorgeous male over the 2009-10 season, so we are counting down to a colourful Christmas.

And of course the suri gene is not restricted to the males. Our amazing America's Next Top Model is postively glowing in the picture below, as she was carrying the first full American offspring of the 2008 importation. She spent a lot of time in quiet cogitation
as she awaited the arrival of her first cria, to America's New Millenium, and produced a gorgeous female cria, who has been called Georgia. Mum and baby are so amazing that we can't wait to show them off at the Canterbury Royal Show this November.
